Mung beans, or munggo, are high in folate, iron, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. When paired with rice, they create a complete protein and provide more protein than many other types of beans. This powerhouse combination is ideal for pregnant women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Munggo is a familiar bean in the Philippines and combines easily with commonly available ingredients. One popular addition to a mung bean stew is moringa leaves, which boost breastmilk volume due to their prolactin content. This adaptable and nutritious meal is perfect for new moms.
